Those fun-size candy bars really add up. This year, Americans spent $8 billion on decorations, costumes, and candy for Halloween, an increase of over $1 billion from the previous year. Online Halloween research is increasing as well, with search categories seeing year-over-year increases of up to 80%. Party-planning and crafty aspirations seem to drive searches, with recipe-specific searches peaking at over 20 million. Some breakout stars of search this year: "pumpkin bars" and "marshmallow popcorn balls." Yum.
